Bio
I'm a freelance, multimedia journalist who's been based in South Korea since 2006 and make frequent reporting trips around the region and back to the US. I'm also legally blind. I cover a range of topics, but I am most interested in global disability issues. I've reported on how climate impacts people with disabilities from the Philippines, how a superstition causes blindness in children in India and I've written about how visually impaired South Koreans rely on a constitutionally protected right to work as masseurs. I file regularly for the public radio program PRI's The World and cover breaking news for NPR. My writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Al Jazeera online and Monocle magazine.
